Esko Boosts the Development of a New Ecosystem for Flexographic Printing with Innovative Solutions at “Walk in Flexible” Seminar
In the wave of rapidly evolving global packaging and printing technologies, numerous leading enterprises and elites in the flexographic printing field came together for “Walk in Flexible: Giants Join Forces to Shape a New Ecosystem for Flexographic Printing in China” along with the Bobst VISION CI Technology Open Day. These events were held in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province from October 17 to 18, 2024.
The event not only highlighted the vibrant vitality of the flexographic printing industry in the new era but also marked an important step towards a new ecosystem for China’s flexographic printing industry. The event was initiated by Bobst— the global leader in satellite flexographic printing equipment, in collaboration with Xinhua, DIC, Esko, Orolia, and DuPont, and meticulously organized by the renowned Shanghai Huazhan | Packaging 100 Enterprises Club. The scale and lineup of the event were unprecedented.
October 17: Seminar Day
During the seminar, senior management personnel from Bobst, Xinhua, DIC, Esko, Orolia, and DuPont participated in discussions. It deviated from traditional presentations by focusing on customer pain points, with solution providers in the flexographic printing industry chain discussing the following six topics:
- Comparison between Gravure and Flexographic Printing Technologies
- The Rise and Evolution of Flexographic Printing
- Printing Control and Standardization
- Advanced Optics and Dot Technology
- Ink and Anilox Roller Technology
- Efficiency and Cost Comparison between Gravure and Flexographic Printing
Mr. Bao Wei, Senior Business Development Director of Esko Greater China, served as the moderator for the discussion. With his exceptional insight, he systematically reviewed the cutting-edge solutions from various leading enterprises in the flexographic printing ecosystem and skillfully guided the in-depth exchanges throughout the discussion, presenting a feast of ideas for the attendees.
Ms. Lily Zhang, Sales Director of Esko Greater China, shared the importance of Esko’s software and hardware solutions in flexographic production. Through technological innovations in digitalization, standardization, and automation, Esko’s flexible solutions significantly reduce the dependency on high-end technical personnel in the flexible packaging industry, greatly improve file preparation efficiency, and ensure printing stability and superior quality.
Subsequently, Mr. Eric Shui, General Manager of Esko Greater China, delivered a speech discussing Esko’s development history spanning over a century, with continuous innovations of the latest products and technologies. Esko hardware and software solutions address key challenges across the packaging and printing industry both vertically and horizontally, offering a comprehensive solution process from concept to market.
Mr. Shui also shared the market trends and technological developments for packaging suppliers in 2024, providing new inspiration and insights for attendees regarding how packaging suppliers should enhance their digital maturity levels in the future from a macro perspective.
October 18: Open Day
During the demonstration of the Bobst VISION CI satellite flexographic printing machine, flexible packaging films—including food composite films and single PE films for maternal and child hygiene products—jointly produced by Esko, Xinhua Plate Making, and DIC Ink, were displayed. The Bobst VISION CI exhibited impressive high-quality, high-definition, and vibrant color effects. With advancements in flexographic printing technology, the print quality of flexography is becoming increasingly comparable to gravure printing.
Looking ahead, Esko will continue to uphold the development concepts of “Innovation, Collaboration, and Green,” and will continuously promote the innovation and application of flexographic printing technology. Additionally, Esko will actively collaborate with upstream and downstream enterprises to jointly advance and improve the flexographic printing industry chain.
